2022 Canadian Grand Prix

2022 Canadian Grand Prix

The Canadian Grand Prix is finally on again in Montreal.  Formula One racing has soared in popularity since the “Drive to Survive” series launched on Netflix several years ago.  During the pandemic, it was one of the only sports that continued, as many others halted play.  This weekend, Canada will host the most exciting weekend on wheels, at Jean Drapeau Park’s Circuit Gilles- Villeneuve located on Île Notre-Dame. This race is a favorite for many of the drivers, including Lewis Hamilton and Canadian Lance Stroll. Lance, who drives for Aston Martin, said “It’s one of those tracks where the grandstand is so close to the track, you feel the atmosphere and I could hear people screaming when I was diving into the corner. That’s how excited people were getting and how awesome it was. So, yeah, it gives me goosebumps thinking about it for sure.”

Grand Prix weekend is more than just an event for car enthusiasts - it's one of the best times to experience the splendour of Montreal! The entire city comes alive with outdoor parties and spectacular F1 celebrations. Modified cars, car parades, concert stages filled up front-and back with avid fans who have come out just for this occasion - not only do they enjoy their fill of music, but also plenty in between! If your visit doesn't include any racing action, don’t worry; there are still a great deal of activities available.  You never know what might happen with 300 thousand+ people in uniforms, wearing colorful clothing and participating in festivities!

Friday and Saturday, drivers will complete their practice laps with qualifying starting Saturday, June 18th at 2pm. Make sure to set your alarm, the Canadian Grand Prix race begins at 12pm Sunday June 19th.
